Eau de Parfum – George Sand

Eau de Parfum – George Sand

On a base of traditional oriental perfume, a careful blend of Amber, Musk, Oud, with a strong presence of Patchouli, the perfumer added a subtle floral note distilled by the oriental Rose, engraving on the skin its effluviums of femininity and a head note « the Italian way » like Hesperides, surrounding the Bergamot and some Sicilian Lemon for its spicy and exciting nature.

Born in 1804, George Sand extraordinarily marked the nineteenth century and the european romanticism: as a successful writer, she was the friend of the intellectuals of her time and the companion of Musset and Chopin. Her castle in Nohant had
become a meeting point where all the european romantic world would gather. She would receive with care in Nohant: she cultivated her garden, which included a perfumed garden used to produce potpourris and soaps for the guests. Her passion
for flowers and perfumes appears in her abundant correspondence. To Musset, having returned to Paris and having left her in Venice, she writes with urge to have him send to her the patchouli of perfumer Leblanc.

She gives numerous indications to her perfumers: in the nineteenth century, Paris contains 500 perfumers-creators running businesses, and constantly rectifying their creations. George Sand would always remain fascinated by the patchouli, oriental animal notes (amber and musk) and by the freshness of the bergamot and lemon, the odours of the south of Italy, a place that characterises romanticism so well.
