Eau de Parfum – Casanova

This elegant and tonic Cologne distills a Hesperides-like perfume with a careful blend of Bergamot, Lemon and Blood Orange from Sicily, elevated by a floral heart with notes of Jasmine. The Amber and Sandalwood give the perfume a warm and woody trail.

The Age of Reason has had its shooting stars, like Casanova, this Venetian adventurer who would become one of the most elegant and refined men of his time, a remarkable thinker and chronicler as revealed by his renowned « Mémoires ». Of
course, he was a great seducer too, a man talented for the way of life and for pleasures in every way, including perfumes.

Moreover, his first childhood memory is an olfactory memory: he accompanies his mother to a « witch » in Muran (near Venice) who massages his temples and the nape of the neck with « an ointment exhaling a delightful odour », having burnt drugs with an incense burner and wrapped Casanova in a perfumed sheet!

Aged 14, he is apprentice Abbot (the pope himself would withdraw him from his vows): his monk educator lectures him on “his crimps and the too delicate odour of his pomade (perfume)”. To which Casanova points out that a number of Venetian
abbots “used amber pomade that swooned women, whilst mine, smelling of jasmine, attracted the compliments of all!” and concluded at his mentor’s face (or should we say to his nose): “If I wanted to life in uncleanliness, I would have made myself Capuchin, not Abbot !”…
