COMPOSITION
A perfume made of Nard, the fragrance best linked to paradise, made royal thanks to its notes of sandalwood and rosewood, and of the exquisite tonka bean. Nard releases intense balsamic notes, warm and grave, in relation to the odour of humus. Amongst the range of root-type perfumes, it features one of the richest spectrums.
BIBLICAL REFERENCES
Nard appears in a text of the Old Testament, the Song of Songs, where it reveals the nature of the beloved woman. It is from the moment of this opening that is initiated the relation with the object of her love. When the nard perfume is named, the lover is recognized as such. Nard more greatly expresses its power for revelation in the Gospels. When the Christ, as he accepts Mary Magdalen’s anointing, reveals his upcoming death: “She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial” (Mark 14, 8).
Her offering will remain the Symbol of the most fervent piety and of faith, which fills the house like a powerful perfume, unbothered by any obstacles. Mary Magdalen imparts on Christ’s feet a balm of consolation and, according to the Hebrew tradition, a real “gust of light”. Because of this, Christ states: “Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her” (Mark 14, 9).
